Giving Back
National Seniors Foundation Trust supports our most vulnerable seniors through a grants program and health education. Currently we sponsor the printing of two books on prostate cancer. We also work closely with our members by encouraging them to ensure their personal affairs are in order.
Last year, 49 grants totaling over $105,800 were given out. These were mainly for medical equipment, primarily aimed at pressure relief and minimisation of pressure infections, a most debilitating problem when bedridden.
Over $50,000 was spent on our second book on prostate cancer titled a Consumer Guide to Advanced Prostate Cancer. This is a world class publication.
The Indigenous Skills Transfer and Exchange Partnership (INSTEP) places senior volunteers in Indigenous communities or organisations. Our volunteers train and mentor community members working on projects that benefit the whole community. We work with community leaders and government representatives to ensure the projects address real needs.
The diverse range of skills requested by communities include trades, grant writing, business management, cooking and teaching. Volunteers also benefit by sharing their skills as they experience the local Indigenous culture and way of life.
Our charitable activities can only be successful with member support and all National Seniors members are encouraged to consider how best you can help.
