Policy Groups

Our policy groups deal with National Seniors' policy matters. Our policy group members all have strong policy backgrounds and an outstanding understanding of seniors’ issues.

At national level

The National Policy Group provides the framework within which policies developed by members are determined. The Group acts as a conduit between the membership, state and territory policy groups, and the Board of National Seniors on policy matters.

The National Policy Group is comprised of representatives from each of the states and territories, namely:

  • David Carvosso (Chair)
  • Vera Somerwil (QLD)
  • John McFarlane (NSW)
  • June MacDonald (WA)
  • John Howland (SA)
  • Doug Chipman (TAS)
  • Margaret Borger (NT)
  • Don McDonald (VIC)
  • Fred Fawke (ACT)

At state and territory level

State Policy Groups have been established in each of the Australian states and territories. These Groups meet regularly to discuss issues of relevance to seniors, and to vote on policy motions developed through National Seniors' branches and zone committees. National Policy Office provides administrative support to the State Policy Groups.

Make yourself heard and make a difference!

It is possible to influence and inform the policy decision made at the national, state and territory level.
