Policy & Advocacy
Issues that are important to you are also important to us. Tell us what you think about issues relating to older Australians and we’ll give you a voice – one that’s loud and clear!
What we do
National Seniors plays an important role in influencing the federal policy agenda and processes for the over 50s.
We advocate on your behalf. We get your point-of-view heard by government of all levels, business and the broader community.
We work closely with our national, state and territory policy advisory groups and our extensive network of state offices, branches and zone committees to determine issues of importance to senior Australians and to identify trends in ageing.
National Seniors' public affairs staff work closely with the membership along with both sides of politics.
We also play a central role in building relationships with a range of government departments, peak bodies and national associations in order to further develop practical solutions to address the needs of seniors and an ageing population.
Our research arm, the National Seniors Productive Ageing Centre, is based in Melbourne and was established to advance knowledge and understanding into all aspects of ageing to improve the quality of life for people aged 50 and over.
Our work through the Productive Ageing Centre is assisted by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing.
