Driving Change
At National Seniors, policy and media teams combine forces to drive change and create a better place for all Australians to grow old in.
From their Canberra base, the Policy Office and Productive Ageing Centre bring together grassroots feedback and top-level research to form an evidence-based lobbying agenda.
The Public Affairs team uses this lobbying agenda to spearhead powerful nationwide media campaigns while, through face-to-face meetings with politicians, business leaders and bureaucrats, the Executive works to secure tangible outcomes for the over-50s.
For example, in 2009 after a fierce three-year campaign waged by National Seniors across media, opposition parties and the wider community, the Rudd Government went against all OECD trends to grant older Australians a pension increase.
Strength in numbers, grassroots policy, relevant research and a powerful media machine ensure National Seniors is the consumer voice for the over-50s.
